If your interview process has online challenge with solving puzzles, probably you're filtering wrong people. Because like solving puzzle itself doesn't tell you if the person good at job or not. It tells you that the person good at solving puzzles, like abstract puzzles. It's 2026 and AI workflows are everywhere, especially in software development. But we still yet checking for people to solve puzzles. What you can do instead, you can, let's say, send candidates number of questions, ask them to review and answer those questions. You can ask them to record video and this way you will have understanding of how this person will communicate, how they will present their ideas and basically show them off. Or you can also ask person if they built something interesting, for example, their pet project. And you can ask them for a link, review this project, or ask them what was the challenging part implementing this project and shipping this project to production. So this way you will have better overview of a candidate and their ability to ship actually something. I recommend you to do that.
